Deog-Seong Oh, PhD, M.Sc, MUP(Master of Urban Planning), BSC, is former President of Chungnam National University, and former Secretary-General of World Technopolis Association (2004-2016). He is now Chair Professor at Woosong University in Daejeon, ROK.
He received a Master of Urban Planning in 1979 and a Master of Science inArchitecture from Seoul National University, Korea in 1981. He earned the PhD in Urban Planning from Hanover University, Germany in 1989. He didhis post-doctoral research at University of Sheffield, UK in 1993. He joined thefaculty of spatial planning at University of Dortmund as a visiting professor in2002-2004.
He was vice president of KPA (Korean PlannerAssociation) and KUMA (Korean Urban Management Association). He is also the chief editor of APPR (Asian Pacific PlanningReview).
His recent research interests are on sustainable development and urbanregeneration, regional innovation with Technopolis and high-tech cluster etc. Hehas published 250 papers in international & national journals onurban planning and design, sustainable development and regional innovation.He has been involved with several committees of central and local governmentas special advisor or expert to the Presidential committee of National BalancedDevelopment, Ministry of Industry and Resources, Ministry of Knowledge andEconomy, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, DaejeonMetropolitan City, Chungnam Province among others.
