Back in 2006, I took that advice literally and agreed to fill in for my pastor while he was on vacation. Since that time, I’ve preached five or six more times. Though I have had no formal religious education, I have immersed myself in self-study of the Bible for several years. Among my influences are Augustine, Martin Luther, John Calvin, Charles Spurgeon and Jonathan Edwards. My modern influences include John MacArthur, John Piper, R. C. Sproul, Alistair Begg, Adrian Rogers, and Paul Washer.
